LitterSmarts exists because cat litter odor advice on the internet is mostly bad. It's either content farms recommending anything with a high affiliate commission, or "tips" articles that say things like "try scented candles!" without addressing why your box actually smells.
We built this site to be different: practical, direct, and based on what actually works.
What We Cover
LitterSmarts focuses specifically on cat litter odor, mess, and maintenance. That's it. We're not a general pet site. We're not a product review mill. We research and write in-depth guides on:
- Why litter boxes smell and the specific fix for each cause
- Which litters actually control odor vs. which ones just mask it
- How self-cleaning and automatic litter boxes compare
- Apartment-specific strategies when you can't isolate the box

Our Approach
We don't review products we haven't researched thoroughly. Our recommendations are based on a combination of hands-on testing, reader feedback, veterinary guidance, and systematic analysis of user reviews across thousands of purchases.
We're skeptical of marketing claims. "7 days odor-free guarantee" needs to be verified against real-world use, not just the box. We tell you what works in practice, not what the manufacturer claims.
